Koto virtuoso Michiyo Yagi, our artist in residence this year, and drummer Tamaya Honda already invited two Scandinavian “visitors” for their debut Dōjō album in 2014. This year, Norwegian bassist Ingebrigt Håker Flaten is mixing it up with the Japanese duo, a musician, who is no stranger to them either – he played with Yagi back in 2005 and has since performed quite a few times with this explosively expressive duo. Even though the group is named after the training room for any and all Japanese martial arts, self-defense is unnecessary. Open your ears and surrender.
