Daniel Erdmanns “Thérapie de couple”

Germany, France

Daniel Erdmann - saxophone
Hélène Duret - clarinet/bass clarinet
Théo Ceccaldi - violin
Vincent Courtois - cello
Robert Lucaciu - bass
Eva Klesse - drums

This couples therapy explores the relationship issues between France and Germany, because “the engine of Europe is once again having a marital crisis”. Written as a commissioned work for jazzahead! 2023, saxophonist Daniel Erdmann, who has called France home for over twenty years, brings together a cross-border band - with clarinetist Hélène Duret, part of the French excellence program Jazz Migration, devilish violinist Théo Ceccaldi, angelic bassist Robert Lucaciu, cellist Vincent Courtois, who presented his chamber music for “Finis Terrae” in Saalfelden in 2022, and the award-winning drummer Eva Klesse. A thoroughly therapeutic work between composition and improvisational interaction, which often creates harmony through friction.
