Anna Högberg Attack
This event has already taken place."Lena!"
Sweden
Anna Högberg - alto saxophone
Elin Forkelid - tenor saxophone
Niklas Barnö - trumpet
Lisa Ullén - piano
Elsa Bergman - bass
Dennis Egberth - drums
When the meaning of the word "attack" changed from "to attach" to "join in battle" a good five hundred years ago, nobody suspected anything about this Swedish free jazz sextet yet. Nevertheless, both meanings make sense here, in moderation also the feverish "seizure". “This shit is free” is how saxophonist Mats Gustafsson sums it up in an enthusiastic review. “I just listen and enjoy what I hear.” The bandleading alto saxophonist from the North of Sweden has been writing “such beautiful melodic lines and grooves”, again Gustafsson, for this line-up for a good ten years. The way her tenor colleague Elin Forkelid, trumpeter Niklas Barnö, pianist Lisa Ullén, Elsa Bergman on bass and Dennis Egberth on drums collectively dissect and destruct them implies only one possible instruction: Attack!
