Tobias Klein – alto saxophone
Bart Maris – trumpet
John Dikeman – tenor saxophone
Jasper Stadhouders – guitar
Gonçalo Almeida – bass
Philipp Moser – drums
Spinifex from Amsterdam, named after a tough Australian grass species, may sound at first glance like a combination of free improvisation, punk rock and other typical Western contemporary music when you hear it for the first time. But beneath the surface, the listener discovers ancient cyclical rhythms from Turkish and Indian musical cultures. Dave Foxall (Jazz Journal, UK) wrote: "ambitious yet unpretentious, taut, catchy, but also fearlessly exploratory and experimental."
