37th International Jazzfestival 2016
A stage for improvisation
Jazz fans were once again invited to celebrate musical creativity on the final weekend of August. An Austrian group traditionally opens the concert series on the Mainstage, which takes place in the Congress Saalfelden. This year was no exception as Lukas Kranzelbinder and his band Shake Stew had the honour. The seven young musicians excited the audience with renditions from various genres as well as unmistakable moments of pure jazz. Around 150 artists performed over the weekend. Among them were jazz greats like Henry Butler, Steven Bernstein, Tomeka Reid and Thomas de Pourquery. In addition, Austrian artists like Siegmar Brecher, Julian Adam Pajzs and Valentin Schuster from the band “Edi Nuly”, as well as Philipp Nykrin, Fabian Rucker and Andreas Lettner from the band “Namby Pamby Boy”, made the festival an extra-special experience.
