Sometimes venturing into the field of electronic music, she also excels with acoustic improvisations and compositions for classic ensembles. With Army of Strangers, she melds a diverse assemblage of seemingly disparate elements with the quality and vitality of rock. The result is an intricate play with stylistic fragments and patterns, full of exuberant twists and turns. But she’s not after some kind of formalist synthesis. Instead, she espouses a musical discussion that puts categories and hierarchies into question.
