The 57 year-old drummer and vibraphonist Jim Pugliese is a recognised unrepentant shaker of the conventional, as his around eighty albums in a coordinate system between Jazz, Rock and Ethno records reveal. His artistic approach between rhythmic cataclysm and spiritual inoculation has been called upon by the greats, like John Zorn, Marc Ribot, Zeena Parkins, Elliot Sharp and Anthony Coleman. His latest, exceedingly riotous project Big Easy demands everything from his comrades-in-arms; from the Theremin player Michael Evans to trumpeter Roy Campbell.
