It was inevitable that a Jazz festival in the heart of the Alps would finally be confronted with yodellers. With all kinds of yodellers – those devout or full of beans, sad or shouting for joy, which Christian Muthspiel wants to use as a source of inspiration and field of play, yet using completely un-Alpine instruments. Just as the Saalfelden Jazz Festival has over three decades presented a balance between the Austrian, European and American, Christian Muthspiel has equally drawn up an ensemble for his compositional task: with two musicians from Austria, two Europeans and two from the American scene. He challenges you with the Blues of the Alps –yodelling.
